CANstruction 2018

CANstruction 2018

Providence Engineering recently participated in the second-annual CANstruction event in State College, PA.

After weeks of planning, designing and shopping, Providence Engineering and Massaro Construction Group joined 5 other teams at the Nittany Mall to practice our engineering and construction skills with canned goods. Our team’s goal was to build a statue of WALL-E entirely from cans, cardboard and a little bit of tape.

CANstruction State College is a food charity competition that aims to help end hunger in Centre County. Here are few fast facts about this year’s event:

  • 6 individual teams participated, representing 13 businesses/organizations
  • The structures consist of a total of 41 different types of canned and non-perishable goods
  • Providence Engineering and Massaro Construction Group’s structure consists of 1,044 cans of non-perishable goods
  • 10,475 cans will be donated, which equals 8,584 pounds of food and approximately 7,153 meals
